Silver Dollar Gum (Eucalyptus Polyanthemos)

  1. I've always wondered where silver dollars grew. Now I know! Thanks. Can you pick a few bushels for me? Please?

  2. *grin*

I guess it to be size and colour of the leaf.

I like the pattern that you have chosen to display. Good combinaton of "silvers" and reds with the blue of the sky peeping through.

Golly, it is cold here today.

  3. LOL Yes, I could do with a few bushels or ten myself.

I think the name derives from the shape, too. The clarity isn't as good as it should be. Probably down to me trying to snap a macro shot with a telephoto lens! We were picnicking in the dappled light under the tree – this was the view looking up.

Gorgeous day here – currently 27.5C/82F.

  4. It's also known as Red Box, if that's any help: http://www.gumtrees.info/eucalypt-species.php

Because we don't have silver dollars here, I'd imagine that it's a name coined (no pun intended) by an American.
