The resilience of mother nature
Our Mrs Blackbird is a real battler. Early in spring she was attacked by we don't know who and broke her right foot as you can see. That has not stopped her from building three new nests and rearing successfully a total of 5 babies and believe it or not she has just completed building another nest in one of my chain cacti (Christmas cacti in northern hemisphere) pots.

Mrs Blackbird is a perfect example of a quiet achiever. She obviously knows she's in a safe place with you both xx

Too safe, Sue. I'm really hoping that this is the last for a while. It's almost a full-time job keeping an eye out for lurking magpies and the like. :-)
DeleteMrs Blackbird must be very happy at your place. And at that rate there is no wonder there are a lot of Blackbirds around. They have only reached our part of the world in the past couple of years.

DeleteAnother 3 babies Wow she is determined.
Despite her determination, we don't have many blackbirds here at all (only the one pair around the house). I'm guessing that's down to the raptors. :(
