Hand-feeding an Australian King Parrot

Alan hand-feeding sunflower seeds to a visiting King Parrot.

  1. King Parrots are just the best, so beautiful and tame. They are always hanging about at the block waiting of us to bring out feed. The Rosellas come in for a feed but take fright at the smallest movement.

    1. So true, Joan. When the King Parrots are in, they won't let the Rosellas get a beaks in.

  2. For some reason we have few birds here in North America that have brilliant colors like those. I don't know if it's that birds from temperate areas have duller colors. I haven't a clue. We have a few...but not many.

    1. I don't know why that is either. Australia is certainly home to a few colourful birds, though not as many as in the tropics. Maybe it does have something to do with climate.
