The mountains of your country remind me of the local mountains here in my native southeastern USA. Same age. Similar appearance. Same north/south alignment. So I've always been interested in them, and especially the higher peaks.
Love your photos - and, for this time of year has a nice lot of water! The reflections in a lot of your photos Alan are quite beautiful. It looks like a perfect day. It's an interesting name and there must be story attached I reckon. Beaut to see the scene of another happy picnic for you both. Cheers now :D)
Thanks, Susan. I'm sure there must be a story attached. There was no information board at the site, but I did find a couple of links that may or may not be true:
Thanks for the links Vicki. I reckon that the Polly so called because he couldn't grow a beard is the most likely ... can imagine the jibing he must have received over that. Beards were the new black way back then! There was no one around on your picnic day, but did you 'feel' you had company?? :o)
Ah ha moved on from Christmas at last. I love those great rocky ledges with pools of water but am always disappointed that I don't capture the essence of them well. You shot has taken me too similar places in my mind. You are clearly doing better than me.
I've seen similar areas here in the States.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Have you guys been to Mount Kosciuszko?
Not yet. We will get there one of these days, though. Anything particular about Mount Kosciuszko you're interested in?

One has Polly has a bloke, the other a sheila. Take your pick. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Joan. Up until now, it's been way too hot and smoky to spend much time in the great outdoors.
