Eastern Brown Snake

Our first snake visitor of the season, a 1.5m adult Eastern Brown that was passing through our back yard. He didn't stay long, more scared of us than we were of him.

    1. Snakes are very attractive if not a little scary. We look at a distance and especially from Sept to Jan watch carefully for them. They come in to get water from the birdbaths mostly.

  2. Uh Alan? I doubt seriously that ugly rascal would be afraid of anybody! Look at his size!!!! (you know I'm gonna have nightmares for the rest of the week...lol)

  3. Not ugly Cherri but certainly to be watched out for. We do not see many but often see them in spring when they are becoming active again after winter.

  4. Wow Alan, I'm loving the pose Bown Snake put on for you (and which you beautifully captured) in the first photo... and those tiny touches of blue on his(her) neck and on the wire. Great photo.
Hmmmm apart from all that though, am seriously glad we don't see many down here - I don't delude myself that they're not around, just that we don't see them :D)

  5. Hi Susan, We seldom see them as well but we know they are there. With the increase in rodents this last 9 months we suspect there will be some healthy specimens around
