Easter Surprise
The cockatoos were going ape around a tree near the dam,
which they tend to do when there is a koala nearby. Goodness knows why – koalas
pose no threat or competition to cockatoos. These shots aren’t particularly
good as the koala was high in the tree and I didn’t have the tripod to keep the
telephoto lens as steady as I would have liked. So I was lying flat on my back
to try to get more stability with the lens at full zoom.

How sweet! We used to go see the koalas in the zoo frequently, but they were always sleeping. This one looks very alert.
ReplyDeleteThis little guy is just too cute! Guess the cockatoos are fluttering about because they saw his claws-LOL
ReplyDeleteAlan, great shot, btw!
ReplyDeleteThanks for for dropping by Meghan and Cherrie. We don't get too many Koalas around here. They pass through from one stand of bush to another. This guy was trying to rest during the heat of the day.
ReplyDeleteThose Cockatoos are so territorial aren't they.
ReplyDeleteGood shooting Alan, I like your way of holding the camera steady too - will remember that trick. Cheers!
Thanks Susan. We discovered that the little chap is passing through slowly. He was in a large tree in the paddock behind the house for a day or so then moved on. Hope he didn't get stung by bees who live in the base of the tree.
