  1. I assume this Holden Ute is an Australian vehicle? It has a somewhat similar look of the American Ford in the very early 1950's.

  2. Yes, Holden (General Motors Australia) utes (utility vehicles) are iconically Australian. We even have an annual ute muster: Ute Muster Gallery

  3. Hah! They both have their arm out the window. Mates ...

I think this is a 1959 Holden. My dad used to get each one as it was issued. Nearly yearly from memory. He stopped in 1965 and traded that in for a Fiat 124S, together with cap and gloves. Men find it hard to age gracefully.

  4. You know a lot more about Holdens than I do! I wouldn't have had a clue what year the ute was.

Also, your memory must be a lot better than mine. All I can remember about the cars my father drove was that there were all Chevrolets (mostly black).

  5. Yes I like old cars and a ute must always go with a dog.

  6. Every Australian male should own a ute at least once in his life. I did and I miss mine. It was a Ford Falcon 'Longreach' I think in America they call this type of vehicle a 'pick-up.'

  9. Hi Nikki: Thanks for popping in. I live near Yea in Victoria, but my photos aren’t restricted to my immediate surroundings. You’ll find photos, most of which are nature based, on this blog from my ‘rural’ travels in Victoria and beyond.

Off to check out your new blog…
