hmm, you scared the poor thing -:)
That looks like a swamp paperbark on the right. Is the red blob a ball-cock? Am I looking at a trough? Why is that wooden structure around it? Like someone needs to lift it up everysooften and move it.Have you ever visited Tony Crittenden's Nature Blog? He's a blow in too (from the old Dart) but he knows his birds!
You were so lucky getting that shot. Well done.
I like the "well" structure he is departing from.
I'm more fascinated by the well. Is it still in use?
I think I have some explaining to do. It’s a concrete water trough, which used to sit between two paddocks, hence the wooden structure. The rest of the fence was moved to create one large paddock.Julie, you’re right about the red blob being a ball-cock. (I’ll have to check out Tony Crittenden's blog – anything to do with nature and I’m there!)Here’s a photo from 2008, also featuring the trough: Heifer and Trough
